It's been a year since Zelbaba released, and I've finally corrected a grave mistake. What's a quest without exciting, blood-pumping, groovy boss themes?

When looking for references I found there's surprisingly few Zelda boss songs which excite me. With a name like A Linkeke Between Words I knew I had to pay tribute to A Link To The Past, so I decided to mix its boss battle song with the Baba song Cog is Push, known internally as "Factory". One is slow and mellow, one is fast, exciting, and repetitive. These two source songs are near polar opposites, but they were both very chromatic, so I felt I could make them work together.

The first section mostly plays with the Link To the Past melody. It's very chromatic, so I slowly merged it with the main Cog is Push melody's call and response section. I spent a lot of time trying to get the instruments to sound baba-like, and then even more time making sure they didn't block one another in a maze of muddiness.

The second section is my favorite. This section was inspired by the Moldarach / Koloktos theme from Skyward Sword. It turns a slow, somber melody only heard in Cog is Push about a minute in into a heroic second wind for brave Linkeke. The second repetition, when that quick organ-like arpeggio comes in, is inspired by the frantic flutes in Moldarach's theme, and it's my favorite part of the whole song. Finally, I'm very happy with the transition back into the intro for a smooth loop. I hope the bosses stay alive long enough for you to hear the whole song!
